Do you really need a list of prompts?

You’ve probably been pitched countless times with the latest lists of “Best AI Prompts” for your industry. Just today, I received an offer for a list of 387 prompts specifically designed for the digital marketing industry, all for just $47. Sounds great, right? Actually, it’s a waste of time.

Here’s why: even if the prompts are good (which is unlikely), it’s not worth your time to sift through 387 prompts to find one that suits your situation.

The solution?

Use a proven AI prompting framework. Personally, I’ve tested and validated what I call the Perfect Prompting Framework. This framework allows you to ask AI virtually any question and get amazing responses without ever needing a “list of prompts” that ultimately wastes your time and money.

Here’s the Perfect Prompting Framework:

1. Specify the Expert: Tell ChatGPT what type of expert it should act as.

2. Provide Background: Give ChatGPT relevant background information for the task at hand.

3. Ask Your Question: Clearly state your question.

4. Request Clarification: Ask for clarifying questions to ensure you get the best possible response.

Simply combine each of these four prompt steps into a single prompt and get ready to see some of the best AI responses ever!

Sample Prompt: Create an Standard Operating Procedure to Add a Blog Post to My WordPress Website

“You are an expert WordPress developer.

I need an SOP to share with my team so that they know what steps to take to post a new blog to my WordPress website.

Please create a comprehensive, step by step SOP from logging into to posting and optimizing a blog post using YoastSEO and Wordpress. Use [VARIABLES] as needed.

Please ask me any clarification questions you need answered in order to give me the best possible response.”

AI Prompt Chain of the Week

Sometimes one prompt just isn’t enough … in fact in many cases, one prompt just won’t get the job done … at least not well. What’s the solution? A chain of prompts can really refine and improve the response of your favorite AI tool:

Write the Perfect (Almost) Blog Post with AI

Writing a great blog post involves more than just a single prompt. Here’s a chain of prompts designed to be used in one chat, for one post, to help you leverage AI to create the perfect (or nearly perfect) blog post!

Prompt share: each of these points should be a separate prompt in this chat:

1. Concept and Purpose:

- "ChatGPT, you are an expert [EXPERT]. I want to create a blog post about [TOPIC] for [AUDIENCE]. Please write a concept overview that I can use as a foundation as we write this blog post. Please ask me any clarifying questions that will help you provide the best possible response, and allow me to answer them before giving your best response.

2. Outline:

- "Based on the concept [BLOG TOPIC], create a detailed outline for a blog post. Include the introduction, main sections, and conclusion."

3. H2 and H3 Headings:

- "Generate H2 headings for each main section of the outline. Then, provide H3 subheadings as needed for each H2 heading."

4. Title:

- "Propose three compelling titles for the blog post that encapsulate the value of AI in blog content creation."

5. Keywords:

- "List relevant keywords and phrases to include in the blog post to improve SEO, focusing on AI-assisted content creation." Note: you are welcome to add in your own keywords here as well.

6. Section 1 with Keywords:

- "Write the first section of the blog post, incorporating the following keywords: [insert desired keywords]. Ensure the content is informative and engaging."

7. Repeat for Each Section:

- "Repeat the previous prompt for section 2 the blog post, using appropriate keywords for each section." (Repeat this step for each section in the blog outline)

8. Introduction Hook:

- "Create a compelling hook for the introduction that grabs the reader's attention and sets the stage for the rest of the blog post."

9. Supporting Data and Examples:

- "Provide data, statistics, or real-life examples that support the benefits of using AI in blog content creation. Include this information in the relevant sections of the post."

10. Visual Elements Suggestions:

- "Suggest visual elements (e.g., images, infographics, charts) that could be included in the blog post to enhance understanding and engagement. Specify where each element should be placed."

11. Quotes and Expert Opinions:

- "Include relevant quotes or opinions from industry experts on the use of AI in content creation. Integrate these into the appropriate sections of the blog post."

12. Internal and External Links:

- "Recommend internal and external links to include in the blog post that provide additional value to the readers. Specify which sections these links should be added to."

13. Key Takeaway Section:

- "create the key takeaways from the blog post based on the content from all sections. Highlight the main benefits of using AI tools in blog content creation." Note: providing the AI with a single pdf of all of the content this far often helps here.

14. FAQs:

- "Generate a list of five frequently asked questions related to AI-assisted content creation and provide concise answers for each."

15. Conclusion:

- "Write a compelling conclusion for the blog post, reinforcing the key points and encouraging readers to explore AI tools for their content creation needs."

16. Call to Action (CTA):

- "Write a strong call to action for the end of the blog post that encourages readers to take the next step (e.g., download a resource, sign up for a webinar, contact for more information)."

17. AI Reread and Proofing: note: upload the entire blog post as a pdf for this step

- "Review and proofread the entire blog post for coherence, grammar, and style. Suggest any improvements or corrections needed."

18. Meta Description:

- "Create a meta description for the blog post that accurately reflects the content and encourages clicks."

19. Content Optimization for Readability:

- "Optimize the blog post for readability by suggesting any improvements in formatting, such as bullet points, short paragraphs, and subheadings."

20. Audience Engagement Questions:

- "Add a few questions at the end of the blog post to engage the readers and encourage them to leave comments or share their experiences."
